We just missed the last train to Paris I don’t mind, I don’t mind We slept on the dirty seats I don’t mind, I don’t mind Maybe if you said you didn’t like the way these days have been I could change them for you We drank warm ale by the River Amstel That was fine, that was fine We played our songs for no one but ourselves That was fine, love, that was fine Maybe if you said you didn’t like the way the story ends I could change it for you I could change for you But I’m glad you don’t ask me to When you’re feeling blue, I could feel the same way too But I’m glad you don’t ask me to We stayed up all night, talkin’ ‘bout the stars and why they shine, and I find… The more I get to know you, the more I know you’re one of a kind And you’re all mine I know that someday when we’re older we’ll look back and smile And say I wouldn’t change this for the world I could change for you But I’m glad you don’t ask me to When you’re feeling blue, I could feel the same way too But I’m glad you don’t ask me to I could change for you But I’m glad you don’t ask me to When you’re feeling blue, I could feel the same way too But I’m glad you don’t ask me to Darling I’m glad you don’t ask me to And that’s why I could change for you

Here I Am 03:54
Here's to all the words we say Here's to all the lovers that will never see the day Words make their dreams come true I wanna know, what does love mean to you? I wish that I could show you what it means to me There's a part of us that stays unseen Until love sets it free What can I say to make you see? If I pretend that you're the only one under the sun Will you see me then? If I tell you I will finally change my ways Will you see me then? Here I am. I want to live your memories I want to know what makes you different from me Maybe I could feel your pain Maybe I could steal your pain and let love remain If I pretend that you're the only one under the sun Will you see me then? If I tell you I will finally change my ways Will you see me then? Here I am.

One road that leads us home Back to the roots of the trees that we’ve grown So far - So far we’ve come to be nowhere at all Fall deepens hearts and the Spring can tear them back apart So far - So far, the winds of change don’t change at all Grow, grow old Grow, just don’t grow cold Take all the time that you need I truly believe you will find a way Love is like a torch in the dark Illuminating parts that you’d never think to see at the start Your heart was made to shine through these old halls Trust in the sun It holds the key to each and every one of us We all are made of falling stars and luck Grow, grow old Grow, just don’t grow cold Take all the time that you need I truly believe you will find a way Now we need to grow We lost our way so long ago Hold on to hope, and never let it go This is our time. It’s our time to grow We’ll take all the time that we need I truly believe we will find a way

It took a couple days, and so many nights To get my story straight, it's still not right A lonely memory trapped in my mind Of that sweet infinity that I have yet to find I want the power of the sun I know I'm not the only one It could be better, that much is clear All the children could be saving up their tears When the tides rise, where will you be? Will you raise an army or be swept away to sea? I want the power of the sun I know I'm not the only one Come on, light the way Before its too late I don't wanna live through another dark day So come on, light the way Come on, light the way Before its too late I don't wanna live through another dark day So come on, light the way

Count Me In 03:30
Last night I saw the scarlet moon You know it shone for me I knew love was here At first I was sure I was along Then you came to me With flowers in your hair I gotta know gotta know gotta know now is this real? If so, let it show let it show let it show now if this is love If it is count me in Last night I heard the siren's song They were kind to me They sang away my fear At first I was sure that is was a dream I never woke up and the morning came too soon I gotta know gotta know gotta know now is this real? If so, let it show let it show let it show now if this is love If it is count me in ooo, if it is count me in and let love win Let love win Count me in Count me in

Home 02:29
Coming home feels good when you’ve been around Familiar ways come back as if they never left You and I have travelled across the sea You and I have become who we needed to be Now we’re coming home Now I see, finally I am free. Wherever we are, that’s just where we need to be That’s why… Coming home feels good when you've been around Familiar ways come back as if they never left Coming home feels nice, everything’s alright Now that feeling’s back, like it never left As if we never left home

This Town 02:24
I went down to the levee, the levee carried me Had no destination, no train station to see No traveling for me Followed you to the lighthouse, the lighthouse by the sea Waves crashed, and the sun shone We had nowhere to be Then you turned to me and said: "in this town, the days go way too fast let's make this one last" Tomorrow I'll be far away, I'm running out of time But when I'm stepping off that train The memories will shine That day was fine, I'll say: "in this town, the days went way too fast this day is the last I'll watch it fade in to the past the memories will last the memories will last"
9.
Well now, it's about time We got on that old railway line Place your hand in mine Come on little darling, we ain't got much time One more step, and we'll be free That's the way I want it to be 1,2,3,4,5, are we gonna make it out alive? I don't give a damn Be my woman and I will be your man One more step, and we will be free That's the way I want it to be One more step, and we will be free That's the way I want it to be O, we're free That's the way I want it to be.

Lay it down, let our energy plant many seeds Verbally, we float over the seven seas How could I fly when I stay so featherless? I stay down to the earth, that's foreverness But still dream if I'm flying on Pegasus No need to plea, I was a pessimist Once believed that the world was my nemesis But now I'm learning of its patience and gentleness Take time to grow, cuz that's evidence Never sell the soul just for the benefits Don't hope for the gold if you're effortless They enrolled for an ocean of pettiness What if I'm broke doing shows, and I'm penniless? I've still chosen to flow through the definite So when I'm gone I've committed to this emphasis We're all the shades of this black and gray, coexist. You can try to bring me down I'll never fall, no way I'll never fall You can try to take my sunny days away I'll never fall, no way I'll never fall I break tradition with my conscious lyricism Following my intuition and breaking my inhibitions Cuz they fail to listen so I'm missing all the rhythm With these algorithms allegorically fueling my skepticism I wish that I could open eyes and believe in All of these words that manipulate the reason The reason being I've been by myself I felt I've climbed these mountains and I've found my wealth; Love - a feeling that is infinite and spacious Love - it takes me to my ultimate oasis Love - I spread it on a day to day basis To show you that I wanna lift the smiles on your faces Shape-shift to another day Make room for another way They say the good things in life come to those who believe so- I believe You can try to bring me down I'll never fall, no way I'll never fall You can try to take my sunny days away I'll never fall, no way I'll never fall A tantalizing dream, but it's one we've all seen Just looking to find a road to thoughts we all speak We've got the means to bring light to dreams But I just want to scream The shades of blue, red, black, white and gray Will never get the chance to paint my days I'll take the paintbrush and trade it away For a view of a sunny day Bridge/Outro: They can't bring us down, we will never fall. (repeat)

about

This was recorded in my home studio (Wild Iris Studio) during 2014.

The idea for this album started when I was traveling through Europe with a good friend. On that trip I wrote 20 songs, each named after the city or town I was writing it in. Out of those 20 only "I Could Change" made it on the album. It was originally called "Paris". All the other songs were written in Santa Cruz, California. I initially wished this to be a travel album, to have the feeling and sound of traveling through Europe with all you own on your back.

But, inevitably, it became something quite different: STRONGHOLD.

On this album I sang, played acoustic and electric guitar, drums, bass, and various percussion. I also did a lot of the recording, production, and mixing.

Thanks to my dad for guiding my hand, giving songwriting advice, and teaching me about production.
Thanks to my mom for giving me a passion for music at an early age and continuing to foster it.

And thanks to everyone who's ever supported me in any way, shape, or form.

Sometimes the smallest gestures make the biggest difference.
